DESCRIPTION
Bold and commanding, Tennouzan is a deeply intense koicha that captivates with its rich, full-bodied flavor and long, complex aftertaste. Notes of roasted coffee, toasted seeds, cocoa beans, and dark chocolate intertwine with a subtle hint of creaminess, offering a matcha experience that is anything but mild. For those who prefer assertive, distinctive flavors over sweet delicacy, this tea delivers. While it can be prepared as an usucha (thin tea), its flavor harmony is best preserved when enjoyed as koicha (thick tea), with a recommended dilution of 1.5g matcha to 70ml water at 80°C.
Named after Mt. Tennou in southern Kyoto, this matcha carries the spirit of a decisive moment in Japanese history. The site of a legendary battle that shifted the course of power, Tennouzan has come to symbolize turning points, fateful decisions, and the pursuit of victory. Much like its namesake, this tea leaves a lasting impression—bold, unyielding, and unforgettable.
