DESCRIPTION
Matsuzakaya Kihachi Main Store is located east of the famous Byodoin Temple in Uji. As a long-established landowner, the store has expansive tea fields in the Biwa area of Uji (now south of Uji City Hall), and it oversees the entire tea-making process—from cultivating Uji tea and harvesting tea leaves to processing and shipping.
Inside the store, five stone mills work tirelessly to grind matcha. However, each mill produces only about 40 grams of matcha per hour—resulting in a vibrant, richly colored tea.
