Collection: Kanbayashi Shunsho 上林春松

Dating back to 1560, Kanbayashi Shunsho's legacy spans the tumultuous end of the Ashikaga Shogunate through the entire Tokugawa period. Their prestigious position as "Gomotsu Ochashi" (highest-ranking tea master) to the Tokugawa Shogunate demonstrates their historical significance—they were entrusted with serving tea to Japan's most powerful military rulers. Through 15 generations, they've preserved traditional techniques that once satisfied the discriminating tastes of samurai lords and their courts. Today, they remain the only surviving tea house from the original Uji tea masters of that era.
